Equine Therapy Horse Therapy in Massachusetts (2)Webinar, August 10, 2020, 9 a.m., with the Justice Resource Institute of Needham, MA. Understanding How Horses Heal: Applying Trauma Informed Principles to Equine Facilitated Therapy will focus on integrating trauma informed principles into your work with clients and horses.
* For any equine professional looking to deepen their understanding of their clients who have experienced trauma, and clinicians and therapists interested in equine facilitated therapy.
* Learn about the neurobiology of trauma and relate it to equine behavior, recognize domains of functioning impacted by trauma and understand how horses can support skill development, and identify trauma informed clinical interventions to integrate into equine facilitated sessions.
About the Presenter- Meredith Norton holds an MSW from Boston College,  is a LICSW in the state of Massachusetts, and holds a CTRI (Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor) certification from PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International), and her Massachusetts riding instructor’s license. Meredith is also the Program Director for Trot On, Justice Recourse Institute’s equine therapy program. Meredith has experience working with children and adolescents who have been exposed to developmental trauma, and has training in the ARC framework and in SMART (Sensorimotor arousal regulation treatment). She has provided equine therapy from a trauma informed lens, providing individual, group and family sessions to youth in residential care and outpatient therapy.
