ABLE Account in Massachusetts Overview - Attainable Savings PlanWebinar, November 21st, 2021, with the Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress.  Mary Rubenis, the Attainable Outreach Manager for the Massachusetts ABLE Savings Plan will be the guest speaker.
* For parents and caregivers of individuals with Down syndrome ages 13-22.
* With an Attainable Savings Plan, individuals with disabilities and their families can save and pay for qualified disability expenses while keeping benefits such as Supplemental Security Income and Medicaid.
* In this webinar Mary will discuss the basics of an ABLE account as well as share some of the tax advantages that these accounts provide.
* An ABLE Account – set up to enhance a person’s quality of life and independence – allows savings while keeping benefits, such as Social Security and Medicaid.
* * The Attainable Savings Plan is offered by the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA), and is the state sponsor for ABLE accounts in Massachusetts.
* Among other things, attendees will learn about qualified expenses, including education, transportation, assistive technology, essential health, and various living needs.
About the Speaker: Mary Rubenis is the Attainable Outreach Manager for the Massachusetts ABLE Savings Plan, offered by the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA) and managed by Fidelity Investments. Mary, who is a member of the College Planning team at MEFA, assists families and school professionals with college planning, financial aid and tax-advantaged savings plans.
