Gardner, MA, December 2nd, 2023. Hosted by the Arc of Opportunity and the Theatre at the Mount. Theatre at the Mount and The Arc of Opportunity have collaborated to offer a judgment-free, sensory-friendly theatre performance.
* This year’s show is Elf, The Musical.
* A “sensory-friendly” performance is a theatre production that is modified for individuals with sensory needs. A regular performance may be too loud, too bright, or too busy for people with autism spectrum disorders, sensory processing disorders, anxiety, or other cognitive or physical disabilities.
* The show is modified to better meet the needs of theatergoers, and staff and actors are ready to support the needs of this population.
* Clinicians from The Arc of Oppportunity staff a room where those experiencing sensory overload are able to go to decompress while the show is live-streamed, so no one needs to miss the performance.
