Charlestown, MA, March 22nd, 2025, with the Federation for Children with Special Needs in Massachusetts. Free. Youth Visions of Community: Journey to Self-Discovery explores each person’s unique path to “the good life.” Transition-age youth (14-26), their families, and the professionals who support them are invited to join us for this free event—packed with learning, community building, and fun.
Sessions take place in two parallel tracks.
- Youth and young adults will work with FCSN youth advisory board members and staff to imagine the future they want for themselves. This includes exploring ideas and resources related to work, learning, social connections, health, safety, and security. The more a person knows about themselves, the better they can advocate for and build a “good life.”
- Families and professionals will connect with FCSN staff and partner resource providers to explore the transition planning process and how to create a strong transition plan as part of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process. Discuss ways parents, caregivers, and professionals can encourage independence and self-advocacy in their children/students.
