The Arc of Massachusetts Educational Series for Aging Caregivers of Individuals with Developmental & Intellectual Disabilities will focus on topics of interest to families and caregivers, including overviews of legal and financial planning, medical issues and supports for individuals with disabilities as they age, Options Counseling and various available community supports.
Tuesday, November 1st, Medical & Developmental Issues Related to Aging with Disabilities, James Bath, MD, Director of Primary Care, Lurie Center for Autism & Kathy Service, N.P., Department of Developmental Services
* Dr. James Bath is a board-certified Family Medicine Physician. Dr. Bath is committed to serving patients with autism spectrum disorder and other neurodevelopmental disorders and offers primary care services at the Lurie Center in Lexington.
* Dr. Bath understands that patients with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders have unique needs.  He coordinates care and communication with multispecialty teams to help patients and families navigate a complex healthcare system.
* Kathy Service, N.P., Department of Developmental Services, has been working in the field of intellectual/developmental disabilities since 1976, first as a RN and since 1979, as a nurse practitioner both in institutional and community settings for the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services. She was one of the first RN’s nationally to be certified in the specialty of developmental disabilities (DD) nursing. Although retired since 2016, she continues to work as a clinician, health care consultant, educator, and advocate to people with DD, their families, staff, and to other health care providers in the general community.
