Webinar for families with Autism in MassachusettsWebinar, November 17th, 2021, 5:00 pm, with the Federation for Children with Special Needs Massachusetts. A continuation of discussion from the Part 1 Workshop in September 2021.
 * This workshop will have an emphasis on developing issues such as transition-aged youth.
Last year was challenging for students and many families are concerned that their student may have lost skills or was not able to fully access the services provided.
* Hear attorneys Tim Sindelar and Janine Solomon discuss lack of effective progress, the legal standard for compensatory services , and options for dispute resolution.
* The one-hour webinar will feature several case scenarios and have a moderated Q&A session at the end.

About the Presenters: 

  • Tim Sindelar, Esq., has been a practicing attorney for more than 43 years, with a practice specializing in disability and education issues for the last 25 years. Currently he represents students and their families and adults with disabilities, and works on a wide range of matters, representing families at the Massachusetts’ Bureau of Special Education Appeals (BSEA) and in state and federal courts.
  • Janine Solomon – Janine Solomon is Mass Advocates for Children’s Managing Attorney and Children’s Law Support Project Director. Janine has significant work experience in the fields of special education and disability discrimination law and policy. She was lead counsel in the matter of In Re: Dracut Public Schools, representing a student with autism in a ground-breaking decision on the rights and obligations that arise under the transitional service provisions of the IDEA.
  • Carol Silva is the founder of Guided IEP Solutions, a full-service special education advocacy and consulting company. Carol received her formal training from PCTI at the Federation For Children With Special Needs and ISEA at William and Mary Law School. Currently Carl dedicates her time to privately advocating, presenting workshops on a variety of special education topics, and running weekly support groups and IEP clinics for parents of children with mental health and behavioral challenges for Wayside Youth and Family Network.
