Webinar, April 12th, 2022, with the Special Needs Advocacy Network in Massachusetts. This workshop will explain ways to advocate more effectively on behalf of multilingual and multicultural communities, the rights of these students in schools, and what you should know in order to ensure they have meaningful access to services and education.
The workshop will:
- Explain the laws related to the rights of multilingual and immigrant students and those who recently arrived at the US.
- Discuss the obligations districts have to ensure all children have equal access to an education, regardless of national origin, immigration status, disability, and language.
- Describe how to assert these rights, and how districts can fulfill these obligations.
Discuss cultural considerations to minimize cultural bias in our advocacy.
