Haverhill High School Library, Haverhill, MA, October 16th, 2023, with the Haverhill, SEPAC, 6:30 p.m. For seasoned parents, this is an opportunity to brush up on your knowledge of basic rights. Families that are new to special education, this can be a great resource to educate you on the basic rights available to you and your student.
* Every parent of a child with special needs—or whose child may have special needs—has federal and state rights with regard to their education.
* Knowing what your rights are helps you to be a better advocate for your child.
About the Speaker: Holly Vietzke, Esq. is a special education attorney representing families, and she will share what you should be aware of and what to do if your child has a disability that affects any part of their educational experience. Holly worked at the Massachusetts School of Law as a full-time professor for 17 years. Holly also served on the North Andover School Committee for 6 years, and was co-chair, of North Andover’s SEPAC. She is a member of the Council of Parents, Attorneys, and Advocates for Special Education. As the parent of a child with disabilities, Holly is passionate about ensuring that every child receives a meaningful education.
* This presentation will be held at the Haverhill High School located at 137 Monument St., Haverhill MA 01832 (in the high school library). Parking for this event will be in Lot E (past the tennis courts).
* A Spanish translator will be present at this workshop.
