Mounting evidence suggests that children of color may be less likely to receive an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment to properly manage this complex diagnosis.
* Is it lack of familial understanding or environment? This event will review the inequities and the impact of symptoms that create great challenges if not treated, parrticulary in marginalized population in today’s society.
* Speaker Shirelle F. Pearson sought resources to support her ADHD-diagnosed son and found help and support in CHADD. In 2018, she became the coordinator for the Nassau County Chapter. She now serves at the national level on CHADD’s board of directors and the diversity, equality, and inclusion committee. In July 2021, she graduated from the ADHD Parent Coach Academy, earning a professional ADHD parent coach designation.
