Webinar, August 27th, 2020, 8 p.m., with the Yale Child Study Center. Free. While there are no medications approved to address underlying social communication challenges associated with autism, co-occurring mental health conditions can often be effectively treated with the same medications approved for use in typically developing populations. However, careful adaptation is required to ensure appropriate assessment which is essential for safe and effective treatment.
* Join this webinar with Dr. Roger Jou to:
– Understand why some individuals living with autism are at increased risk for mental health conditions.
– Identify the basic categories of psychotropic medication which are often used to effectively treat psychiatric comorbidities in individuals on the autism spectrum.
– Explain why safe and effective psychiatric care for those on the autism spectrum not only requires highly tailored prescribing, but also close collaboration with key professionals and family members.
– Explore new treatment strategies and learn how participating in SPARK at Yale can help accelerate discovery.
