Natick, May 10th, 2017. For parents, caregivers and students of all ages. Travis Roy, author of “Eleven Seconds”,  is a former BU hockey player that speaks to students and parents about the importance of having high expectations, goals and the resilience to persevere through adversity. “In life there are times when we choose our challenges and other times when the challenges simply choose us. The question is whether we conquer the challenges life presents us, or surrender to them.”
About the speaker:
Travis Roy, was a young hopeful in the world of hockey and realizing his lifelong dream, when in eleven seconds a freak accident drove Travis into the boards, with a vertebra injury that left him paralyzed from the neck down. Although he spent months in a hospital bed, then a wheelchair, Travis gradually found a way to make a fulfilling and productive life. Travis eventually established the Travis Roy Foundation, which is dedicated to research and one-on-one assistance for spinal injury cases.
