Webinar, October 25th, with Massachusetts Sibling Support Network (MSSN). This support is offered across the sibling’s lifespan and includes providing information and education, creating welcoming communities for siblings, and improving access to sibling services.
* The Sibling Experience Across the Lifespan provides an overview of the sibling experience, sibling movement, and research trends, as well as strategies and tips to support siblings of people with disabilities, with a specific focus on having important, yet sometimes challenging, conversations.
* Sibling panelists will be available throughout the presentation to share their lived experiences and to answer questions.
About the speaker: Zach Rossetti, PhD, is an associate professor of special education in the Teaching and Learning Department at BU Wheelock. His research examines the social belonging and participation of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), with a specific focus on how educators and parents can facilitate friendship opportunities between students with and without IDD. He also conducts research related to families of individuals with IDD, specifically examining language access and participation in IEP meetings, family-professional partnership, community participation, and sibling roles and relationships.
