Stephen Shore (2)Peabody, April 5th, 2018. Speaker and author Stephen Shore will present Success with Autism: Using Strengths for Achieving Fulfilling & Productive Lives – Like Everyone Else. Shore’s presentation will address issues facing students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other Learning Differences, including self-advocacy, sensory issues, and success in higher education. Shore himself was diagnosed as a child with strong autistic tendencies”, was considered “too sick”  and recommended for institutionalization. Although nonverbal until four, with much help from his parents, teachers, and others, he grew up to complete his doctoral dissertation at Boston University focused on matching best practice to the needs of people on the autism spectrum. Stephen is now a professor at Adelphi University where his research focuses on matching best practice to the needs of people with autism. Fees apply. Registration required.
