Northhampton, May 15th, 2018. The documentary on Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders (PANDAS), “My Kid Is Not Crazy: A Search for Hope in the Face of Misdiagnosis”, tracks the journey of six children and their families as they become tangled in a medical system and inadvertently the pharmaceutical industry. It also tells the story of Dr. Susan Swedo, of the National Institutes of Health, who discovered a link between strep throat and sudden onset OCD and/or tics as well as other psychiatric symptoms. Since then, there has been controversy regarding the disorder and its appropriate treatment.
The film also has interviews with nationally known experts in science, medicine and treatment to separate fact from fiction, covers the diagnosis, physicians on both sides of the argument, and the lives of young children and the families that PANDAS affects.
