JUNE 24TH HEALING MORAL INJURY: Sometimes hidden wounds have a tremendous impact on how veterans and service members feel after they return. Things that happened that seemed manageable in theater become more difficult to deal with back home. Moral Injury is the term used to describe the guilt, grief and anger that results from something you did or witnessed that violates basic values. Often it is harder to heal from moral injury than from other kinds of PTS. This interactive workshop will briefly describe moral injury, how it affects behavior, and how people and families heal from moral injury.
JULY 22ND – CONFLICT & RESOLUTION IN THE MILITARY FAMILY: Sometimes we find ourselves arguing about the same basic thing over and over again, and not getting anywhere. Or little things that shouldn’t make a difference ignite hurtful arguments. We wish we had the tools to work out differences in ways that help us to grow closer to loved ones. This fun, interactive workshop will look at factors in relationships that impact conflict and how to identify and work with them. We will also provide examples of helpful ways to have difficult conversations.
