Parent may explore and discuss the common barriers to making and keeping friends that kids may have, as well as tips and strategies to assist kids in breaking through those barriers to attain, maintain, and sustain friendships.
* There are those of us as parents, who have felt such pain for our kids when:
- We watch other children removing themselves from playing with ours,
- The birthday party invitations that don’t come
- We observe cringe-worthy moments when our child is missing the social mark
- We hear through the parent grapevine that other children are not allowed to play with our child
- Our child tells us that they spend lunch and recess alone
*When a child struggles with social skills, it is difficult to watch them being rejected for who they are, the “be” skills, which are so different from that they can do. And all kids have amazing things to bring to friendship relationships, once they build the skills and are given a chance.
