Sensory Friendly Sunday at the Connecticut Science MuseumHartford, CT, April 2nd, 2023. The museum is lowering the volume and dimming the lights for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and sensory processing differences to have a fun, enjoyable, and interactive learning experience in a comfortable and accepting environment.
* Extra signage is also added to help visitors determine if a particular exhibit or gallery will have any triggers for someone with ASD.
* Any visitors on this day will still have the opportunity to experience all of the fun exhibits the Connecticut Science Center offers.
Accessibility includes

  • Exhibits that offer elements to accommodate many learning styles and physical needs through audios, visuals, closed captions on videos, tactile components, and more.
  • A passenger drop off and pick up area.
  • Wheelchairs available on a first come, first served basis.
  • Seating and benches are located throughout the facility.
  • Licensed guide and service dogs are welcome.
  • Infrared Assistive Listening Devices for theater presentations are available upon request.
  • Exhibit display panels are positioned for comfortable viewing from a wheel chair.

Fees apply.  1:1 aides are free.
