Hartford, CT, April 2nd, 2023. The museum is lowering the volume and dimming the lights for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and sensory processing differences to have a fun, enjoyable, and interactive learning experience in a comfortable and accepting environment.
* Extra signage is also added to help visitors determine if a particular exhibit or gallery will have any triggers for someone with ASD.
* Any visitors on this day will still have the opportunity to experience all of the fun exhibits the Connecticut Science Center offers.
Accessibility includes
- Exhibits that offer elements to accommodate many learning styles and physical needs through audios, visuals, closed captions on videos, tactile components, and more.
- A passenger drop off and pick up area.
- Wheelchairs available on a first come, first served basis.
- Seating and benches are located throughout the facility.
- Licensed guide and service dogs are welcome.
- Infrared Assistive Listening Devices for theater presentations are available upon request.
- Exhibit display panels are positioned for comfortable viewing from a wheel chair.
Fees apply. 1:1 aides are free.
