Webinar, April 12th, 2021, with the Gateway Regional School District SPED Parent Advisory Council. This event is free and open to the public. This workshop is designed to help parents learn to be effective partners with schools in their children’s special education.
* The Gateway SEPAC guest speaker is Angela Ferreira. She will provide an introduction to parents’ rights and responsibilities under current federal and state special education laws.
* Angela will also review tools to help parents participate with their child’s school in the creation of effective IEP and 504 plans for their children.
About the speaker: Angela Ferreira, Special Education Consultant, is a non-lawyer advocate who has been involved in special education advocacy on a personal level for more than 20 years. She is also the parent of three children – two with disabilities and one adopted from a trauma background at the age of eight. Angela has worked at The Arc of Bristol County as an educational consultant, is the chairperson of the Special Education Parent Advisory Council in her local school district, and has completed the Parent Consultant Training Institute through the Federation for Children with Special Needs.
