James M. Quinn School, Dartmouth, March 15th, 2018. Free and open to public. The Dartmouth Special-Education Parent Advisory council workshop is an introduction to recognizing why a behavior might occur and basic strategies to help reduce (inappropriate) behaviors. Behavior serves a purpose. It is our behavior that allows us to communicate, to interact with those around us (home, school work etc..), and to get our needs met. Whether a behavior connected to an unmet sensory need, to avoid a task, to gain attention or simply an attempt to access a toy (or other object).
