UMass Amherst Campus, November 30th, 2017. Renowned adult with autism and author of “Look me in the Eye”, “Be Different” and more, John Elder Robison, will be the featured speaker. After a difficult and diagnosed childhood, John was able to eventually have careers in rock music, high tech, and specialty auto, and was officially diagnosed with ASD in his adulthood.
Since then, he has become active on boards and committees of the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control, Autism Speaks, and a number of universities and colleges, and with legal, ethical, and social issues relating to autism and advocacy.
In 2012 Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius named John to the Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee.
