Webinar, February 2, 2021, with Therapro of Framingham. Free.  Explore sensory-motor, cognitive and executive functioning activities for preschoolers crucial in building the foundation to achieve lifetime handwriting skills. The focus will include activities geared to prepare the child for success in three major areas:
1.) Skill
2.) Stamina
3.)  Speed
Discussion will focus on gross motor, sensory (with emphasis on vision and visual training), fine motor (with an emphasis on dominance, adaptation of writing tools, table surface and paper), and proper exposure to block letters and numerals in the preschool setting.
Learning Objectives:
1.  Identify practical tools for preschoolers to achieve skill, stamina and speed in prewriting activities.;
2.  Identify treatment program to enhance school related executive functions;
3.  Adapt prewriting tasks by focusing on the adaptation of “place”, “time”, “activities” and “participants;
4.  Develop home based programs to reinforce skills introduced in therapy and educational settings.
About the Presenter: Gail Kushnir, MA OT, Bed. is a trained occupational therapist, special education teacher and lecturer in Israel, USA and Europe. She specializes in pre-writing and writing skill development and adaptation and is the author of many books on this subject. She has developed a unique, practical, family centered treatment approach where the therapist works hand in hand with the educators and family members to practice and internalize pre writing skills with diverse and fun-filled activities.
