American Hippotherapy Association AHA-Inc-Membership-Pages-Header (2)Framingham, May 7th, 2016. Monica Wu, a clinical specialists in Hippotherapy, will present a free talk and slideshow from the American Hippotherapy Association to explain hippotherapy. There will be video clips of clients before receiving hippotherapy and after receiving hippotherapy as a treatment strategy. There will be a display of equipment to touch and view.
Participants will:

  • Understand the meaning of hippotherapy and the effective use of equine movement using hippotherapy as a treatment strategy as it pertains to OT, PT, and SLP practice.
  • Learn the difference between hippotherapy and therapeutic riding
  • Appreciate and understand the credentials obtained by hippotherapists
  • Learn factors to consider when looking for a facility for clients or their own child to ensure safety and quality treatment.

More about the speaker: Monica Wu is a Hippotherapy Director, Pediatric Occupational Therapist, Clinical Specialist in Hippotherapy, PATH International CertifiedMonica received her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Columbia University, The College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York in 1990 and her B.S. in Biology from Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut in 1987. She has a specialty in pediatrics and has worked in a variety of different settings, including school systems, rehabilitation, outpatient and inpatient services and homecare. Monica is also a Hippotherapy Clinical Specialist through the American Hippotherapy Association, a Massachusetts Licensed Riding Instructor and PATH Certified Instructor and Therapist.
