Groton-Dunstable Regional School District, February 28th, 2019. Anxiety expert Lynn Lyons, who is also co-author of “Anxious Kids, Anxious Parents, 7 Ways to Stop the Worry Cycle Lynn will discuss that anxiety in many children has a generational link, with patterns of worry and anxiety being passed from parents to children. But what parents often intuitively do to help anxious children actually serves to strengthen these patterns. Lynn addresses these patterns and presents families with an alternative approach that focuses on active engagement over avoidance behavior.
Lynn often covers topics such as the most common anxiety-enhancing patterns–including reassurance, accommodation, avoidance, and poor problem solving—and introduces an approach that changes both the child and adults’ engrained patterns of thinking and behaving.
