Central Mass Family Support Resource Fair:
April 22, 2009, Worcester Technical High School, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fair will offer a "Street Guide" to resources and supports for families and supporters of children and adults with disabilities.
access/ABILITY Exhibit:
Boston Children's Museum, going on now through August, 2009. Exhibit features interactive disability-awareness displays where visitors may learn phrases in American Sign Language, type their names in Braille, try a hand-pedal bike or take part in a multi-sensory City Walk.
Recreation For Children With Special Needs:
Presented by the Foxborough Special Education Parent Advisory Council in Foxborough, MA. Featuring local recreation providers. Event is free and open to the public. Thursday, April 16th, 2009, 7 p.m.
Camps-Inclusion and Special Needs:
In Boston: Camp Joy, Camp Shriver and The Summer Treatment Program at Judge Baker Children's Center. Also Camp Steppingstone in Boxford, Camp Woodhaven in West Bolyston, Eagle Hill Summer Program in Hardwick and The Greater Beverly YMCA Adaptive Programs. Transition Planning Workshops for Ages 14-22:
April 28th and May 5th, 2009, 7:00-9:30 PM, Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center, Newton, MA. You are your child can develop IEP transition goals that support student preferences, interests and future vision. Yesodot members: $20.00 for both workshops. Non-members: $40.00 for both workshops. Group sizes limited.
Teen Sibling Support Group:
The Foundation For Children with Behavioral Challenges, Andover Youth Services and "Baskets" plan to start a teen sibling support group for ages 13-16. The group will be meeting monthly on Sundays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. More info can be found here: www.spedchildmass.com/support_groups
The Autism Consortium Offers Family Support:
Autism Resource Specialists are available to talk with families in person or by phone to provide support and guidance to help children with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) in the classroom, in the community, and at home.
