Webinar: Skills for Life – Caring for Your Space for Parents of Adults & Transition-Age Adults

MetroWest Regional Disability Transition Fair for Special-Needs Teens and Young Adults

Webinar, August 20th, 2020, with Asperger / Autism Network of New England.  This webinar will provide a framework and practical tools to support young adults with caring for their own space including cooking, cleaning and organizing.
* They will outline the basic tasks involved in caring for your own space including the “hidden” components of those tasks.
* They will also provide practical tools to support young adults with skill development and we will address how to create and maintain habits and routines to support maintenance of one’s space.
* They will address how challenges with executive functioning can impact one’s ability to maintain their space and provide some tools to compensate for such challenges.
About the Speakers: 
Transition Director and Clinical Director, Skills for Life – Brooke Howard, MS, OTR/L – Brooke is a licensed Occupational Therapist, and has worked at educational institutions, in inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation and supervised the outpatient program at Franciscan Hospital for Children, as an adjunct faculty in the Occupational Therapy department at Sargent College, and is currently a founding partner of Ivy Street’s community-based program, Skills For Life where she works in the community with young adults who seek to gain more independence.
Program Director, Skills for Life – Jane Hannafin, MS, OTR/L. Jane has a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, has previously worked at Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital on the Traumatic Brain Injury Unit, and is a founding partner of Ivy Street’s community-based program, Skills for Life where she works in the community with young adults who seek to gain more independence.
