Watertown, MA, March 13th, 2020.A Parent Workshop that will highlight the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS) Self-Directed Supports model to develop meaningful schedules for adult programming.
* This workshop is appropriate for Massachusetts families exploring options for day programming after graduation. The content will be helpful for all attendees, though Massachusetts state policies will be a focus of discussion. The transition team from the event host (Perkins) is happy to explore how other states plan for community based, self-directed programs.
* Self-Direction is a way of providing supports to individuals that promotes personal choice and control. It is based on the idea that individuals and families are in the best position to know about their needs.
* Individuals and/or families decide who provides those supports and how they are delivered.
